Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart: Trio for clarinet, viola & piano in E-flat major, K498 (“Kegelstatt”)
Carl Maria von Weber: Quintet for clarinet & strings in B-flat major, Opus 34
Johannes Brahms: Quintet for piano & strings in F minor, Opus 34
A number of our highly acclaimed and regularly visiting CMS friends return, with the addition of a new visitor, Tommaso Lonquich, clarinet. Ida Kava an, Yale violin professor and master chamber musician, leads a group including regular visitors Yura Lee and Nicholas Canellakis, while Gilles Vonsattel and Erin Keefe are also back again. Together, this group offers us delicacy and balance as well as exciting musicality.
Along with Mozart’s delightful trio for clarinet, viola and piano, relish Weber’s melodious quintet for clarinet and strings. The concert is rounded out with Brahms’ passionately Romantic quintet for piano and strings, with Hungarian folk flavours seeping into the final movement, ending our season with a rousing flourish!
