We are both saddened to end, yet honoured to complete the season with as Time Magazine writes, “America’s greatest quartet,” the Emerson String Quartet on Sunday, May, 8 at 3:00 pm.
The quartet has made more than 30 acclaimed recordings and has been honoured with nine GRAMMYs® (including two for Best Classical Album), three Gramophone Awards, the Avery Fisher Prize, and Musical America’s “Ensemble of the Year” award.
The program for the quartet’s engagement in Vancouver features:
Béla Bartók: String Quartet No.1 in A minor, Opus 7, Sz40
Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart: String Quartet No.22 in B-flat major, K589
Ludwig van Beethoven: String Quartet No.15 in A minor, Opus 132
A much-loved ensemble that has delighted us for many years. “…complemented their customary power, finesse and unanimity with a fresh, palpable vigor… technically resourceful, musically insightful, cohesive, full of character and always interesting.” (New York Times) “…with musicians like this, there must be some hope for humanity” (The Times, London).
This is an amazing opportunity to see this quartet live and to finish off our successful season. So, don’t miss out —get your tickets now for our final concert & join us for live chamber music experiences for music that will uplift the soul!
