We are thrilled to welcome back the Czech group, Pavel Haas Quartet, in Vancouver on Sunday, March 13th at 3:00 pm!
Following their victory in the Prague Spring Festival Competition and Premio Paolo Borciani in Italy in 2005, the Pavel Haas Quartet have established themselves as one of the world’s most exciting contemporary chamber ensembles.
The Quartet have to date recorded eight CDs, which have garnered enthusiastic critical acclaim and received numerous prestigious awards. A new recording of the Brahms Piano Quintet with Boris Giltberg and the G major String Quintet with Pavel Nikl is scheduled for release later this spring. They have received numerous prestigious awards including being named European Concert Hall Organisation’s “Rising Stars,” and “BBC New Generation Artist.”
Following this, they were afforded the opportunity to give numerous high-profile concert appearances all over the world and were granted a classical music fellowship from the Borletti–Buitoni Trust.
Süddeutsche Zeitung describes the quartet as “represent[ing] the best qualities of the Czech tradition – warmth, sonorousness, individuality, intensity; but what’s striking here is their fearless risk-taking, their fervency and… absolute confidence.”
The program for the quartet’s return engagement in Vancouver features:
Franz Joseph Haydn: Quartet in G major, Opus 76, No.1
Bohuslav Martinů: Quartet No.7, “Concerto da Camera”, H.314
Franz Schubert: String Quartet No.15 in G major, D887
