Joseph Haydn: String Quartet in D major, Opus 50 No. 6 “The Frog”
Samuel Barber: String Quartet in B minor, Opus 11
Ludwig van Beethoven: String Quartet in A minor, Opus 132
The Emerson String Quartet has been our top returning ensemble for many years – years in which to integrate their playing so perfectly that eight hands seem to be directed by a single superb musical intelligence.
Remarkably, each return concert exhibits a new vitality and freshness, most recently exciting our entire audience into giving them a standing ovation. Accolades include nine Grammy Awards and three Gramophone Awards – unprecedented honours for a chamber music group. This concert will bring out new treasures in the music of Haydn, the first master of string quartets, as well as the lyricism of Barber’s quartet, and the crystalline beauty and profound feeling of Beethoven’s late quartet.
Tickets: Single tickets $55 (online), $60 (at the door), Students $15 (at the door, with ID)
