Spotlight on Local, Award Winning Pianist, Ian Parker!

April 8, 2014

Our season finale is only a few weeks away, and with great excitement, we will be featuring award winning pianist and local Vancouverite, Ian Parker alongside the Vogler Quartet! It’s not the first time Ian has collaborated with the Vogler Quartet. In fact, he toured with them in 2005/2006 on their 20th anniversary tour and has since been invited to play and tour with them countless times.

Ian Parker’s collaborative repertoire isn’t limited to the Vogler Quartet. He has played with a number of philharmonic orchestras and symphonies across North America and this past season, he even appeared with the Eugene Symphony, Hong Kong Sinfonietta, and Orquestra Filarmônica de Minas Gerais/Brazil! His recorded works are equally impressive, having recorded concertos with Maurice Ravel, George Gershwin, and London Symphony Orchestra.

When reviewing the National Symphony Orchestra, the Washington Post said:

Ian Parker, a technically assured and enthusiastic young Canadian pianist, was the soloist in Gershwin’s Rhapsody in Blue…[he] offered a well-thought-out approach projected with extraordinarily cleanly etched textures.

If you would like to see the energetic and thoughtful performance of Ian Parker, join us on April 1st for our season finale at the Vancouver Playhouse as he plays alongside the Vogler Quartet! Tickets can be purchased on Eventbrite.
